Even in the prior to classes starting, there are definitely some things I've noticed in retrospect about my portfolio. I feel like my strengths lie in typography, hierarchy, working within a grid, and knowing my intended audience. In the future I hope to focus on improving my illustration and photography skills.
It's not perfect, but I am proud of the portfolio I presented for my entrance review. There are a couple pieces I'm particularly proud of that I think deserve a fair bit of credit for my acceptance.
GRD 3000: Packaging Design
GRD 3150: Expressive Quote Poster
GRD 3150: Type Specimen Booklet
GRD 3200: Advertising (for The Artmore)
GRD 3200: Collateral Design (for The Artmore)
GRD 3200: Stationery Design (for The Artmore)
Looking back on each of these, there are clearly imperfections and things I'd improve upon, but I can't wait to see what kind of work my classmates and I will make this semester. Applying the tools and techniques we learned individually to become strong artists in our intro classes, and sharing that wealth of knowledge and talent among our cohort is sure to create brilliant stuff.
